Experience

Samantha Bancroft Vianna Braga is an attorney-at-law admitted to the Brazilian Bar Association and founding partner of Ouro Preto Advogados. Samantha provides legal services in intellectual property law for over 15 years, after graduated in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro – PUC/RJ in 2006. Samantha earned her Master’s degree in Intellectual Property and Innovation from the Academy of the National Institute of Industrial Property – INPI in 2015. She is the author of the book “Abuse in the exercise of trademark rights and its repercussions in competition” published by Lúmen Juris. In 2022, she was one of the attorney’s invited by the Japan Patent Office – JPO in association with the Japan Institute For Promoting Invention & Innovation – JIPII and the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships – AOTS to participate of a training course for practitioners specializing in trademarks in Tokyo, Japan, to promote discussions on the functioning of trademark protection and enforcement systems in various countries.

She has also taught in training courses and given lectures at institutions such as Centro de Estudos de Direito Econômico e Social – CEDES, Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro – UERJ, Faculdade Cândido Mendes and Escola de Magistratura Regional Federal – EMARF, participating in events organized by IP Associations in Brazil, such as Associação Brasileira da Propriedade Intelectual – ABPI and Associação Paulista da Propriedade Intelectual – ASPI in 2022 and 2023. She is a member of the Brand Restrictions Committee of the International Trademark Association – INTA and of the Committee for Diversity and Equality of Associação Paulista da Propriedade Intelectual – ASPI. Samantha is currently the General Counsel for the Brazilian Association of the Industrial Property Agents (ABAPI).
