Experience

Rodrigo Ferreira is a Patent Attorney, with a background in Biotechnology and IP practice on patent and innovation matters along the last 15 years, having also been admitted to the Bar Association OAB/RJ.

His experience mostly resides in patents, assisting local and foreign clients in administrative and consultancy services. in a great variety of technology fields. He works on the management of patent portfolios, filing and prosecution of Patent and Design applications, including drafting applications and technical reports, responses to Office Actions, Appeals and Nullity procedures before the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO). His experienced also in providing opinions on patentability, prior art and Freedom-To-Operate (FTO) studies.

Rodrigo started his IP career at the IP Boutique Carminatti & Schulz and worked as a Patent Agent at relevant Brazilian firms like BM&A PI, Luiz Leonardos & Cia, and Guerra IP, before joining Ouro Preto Advogados as the Head of firm’s Patent Team.

Rodrigo has a law degree from the Instituto Brasileiro de Mercado de Capitais – IBMEC/RJ since 2019; a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro – UFRJ since 1997, earned a master’s degree in Genetics from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro – UFRJ since 1999, and a Master of Business Administration – MBA in Environmental Studies from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro – UFRJ since 2004.
